Here's one that I made for a turquoise themed mail art call.
My mail box has been very happy recently

Such a dreary corner. Hmmm, here's a thought, I might just add some colour to my box... |
A dear friend of mine from Germany sent me a wonderful package filled with stamps and postcards. Thank you Michael...
Good morning, how are you?
ReplyDeleteMy name is Emilio, I am a Spanish boy and I live in a town near to Madrid. I am a very interested person in knowing things so different as the culture, the way of life of the inhabitants of our planet, the fauna, the flora, and the landscapes of all the countries of the world etc. in summary, I am a person that enjoys traveling, learning and respecting people's diversity from all over the world.
I would love to travel and meet in person all the aspects above mentioned, but unfortunately as this is very expensive and my purchasing power is quite small, so I devised a way to travel with the imagination in every corner of our planet. A few years ago I started a collection of used stamps because through them, you can see pictures about fauna, flora, monuments, landscapes etc. from all the countries. As every day is more and more difficult to get stamps, some years ago I started a new collection in order to get traditional letters addressed to me in which my goal was to get at least 1 letter from each country in the world. This modest goal is feasible to reach in the most part of countries, but unfortunately, it is impossible to achieve in other various territories for several reasons, either because they are very small countries with very few population, either because they are countries at war, either because they are countries with extreme poverty or because for whatever reason the postal system is not functioning properly.
For all this, I would ask you one small favor:
Would you be so kind as to send me a letter by traditional mail from Fiji? I understand perfectly that you think that your blog is not the appropriate place to ask this, and even, is very probably that you ignore my letter, but I would call your attention to the difficulty involved in getting a letter from that country, and also I don’t know anyone neither where to write in Fiji in order to increase my collection. a letter for me is like a little souvenir, like if I have had visited that territory with my imagination and at same time, the arrival of the letters from a country is a sign of peace and normality and an original way to promote a country in the world. My postal address is the following one:
Emilio Fernandez Esteban
Avenida Juan de la Cierva, 44
28902 Getafe (Madrid)
Spain
If you wish, you can visit my blog www.cartasenmibuzon.blogspot.com where you can see the pictures of all the letters that I have received from whole World.
Finally, I would like to thank the attention given to this letter, and whether you can help me or not, I send my best wishes for peace, health and happiness for you, your family and all your dear beings.
Yours Sincerely
Emilio Fernandez
Hi Emilio,
DeleteIt would be my pleasure to send you snail mail. We can perhaps exchange once my mail arrives.
Best wishes
Michelle:
ReplyDeleteI loved your user name and photo on the Mail Me Some Art blog, so I sent you a letter and some mail art on January 28. Unfortunately, it arrived back in my US mailbox yesterday, March 21, almost two months after sending, with a note that said "Return to sender. Attempted. Not known. Unable to Forward."
That generally means a problem with the address, although I double checked the envelope with what you posted twice on MMSA, and everything seems correct. The postage is adequate also, so a lack of stamps wasn't the problem either.
In short, I can see NO REASON why the letter should not have been delivered (especially since you have gotten mail from other folks on the MMSA site).
I would like to resend, but am wondering if there is a "longer" address for the purposes of international folks. In other words, you just listed the post office name, and "Fiji Islands," but is there a regional name, or island name, or even a numerical postal code?
I'm wondering if the address didn't look "real" to someone along the way, so the letter was returned as undeliverable.
Can you check with your postal service? There may be someone there with knowledge of international mail who might have a suggestion. I'll check back both on your site here, and MMSA. I could use a new envelope and try again, but I'll wait a bit to see what you can find out.
Mail art is an adventure, no, because it's never clear what's going to happen!
Dear Joanne,
DeleteMany many thanks for the lovely comments. That's too bad that your mail was returned. I have exchanged several post with the same address from mail artists in US. So not sure how to solve this.
You could try adding Pacific Region after Fiji Islands.
I just read the rules and regulations of Post Fiji and it said obscene things were not allowed. Now I see that someone has sent you the derriere stamp from Finland, which caused a lot of controversy here. Haha, oh dear! :D Nice blog! -Julia
ReplyDeleteHello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI just got your name from Postcrossing. It's is a nice blog you have set up. I appreciate your art works. I wish if I could get some used Fijian stamps from you. I'll send you a postcard instead from India. Hope you'll reply me soon.
